Martha’s Vineyard, Isle of Dreams by Susan Branch

Happy October and the beginning of Fall!

I have probably said this before, but let me just say it again. I love fall!  It is my favorite time of year, and when the nights get chilly, it is time to curl up with a great book.

If you all read my post before this one on The Fairy Tale Girl by Susan Branch, Martha’s Vineyard Isle of Dreams is the second book in the series.  The story begins where The Fairy Tale Girl left us. Susan is still mourning the loss of her marriage, struggling to find her place in this world and her voice in the  life she is creating for herself on Martha’s Vineyard.

As you open this beautiful, artistic creation, take time to pause over the pages, the artwork is incredible.  Each page is a masterpiece and will truly bring you joy, so grab a cup of tea, snuggle up with the book and simply begin reading her journey.

What I love and think you will too, is her honesty.  Susan shares her pain, her feelings and struggles without hesitation.

Throughout the pages of Martha’s Vineyard Isle of Dreams, you will follow her path to getting her first book published, how her fear of flying spread its deep roots in her soul and why she doesn’t fly.  As you read these pages and the stories of her first train trip, I am thinking I will join her.  The train sounds like so much more fun.

In my review with you all on The Fairy Tale Girl I said I felt like I was sitting in her cozy little living room at Holly Oak enjoying a conversation and stories with a girlfriend, it is the same feelings I had when I read this book.  I am so grateful that she stayed true to who she is and pushed to have the books published in her handwriting, it is so much more personal.

As the book comes to a close, her precious Joe has just entered her life and that story is written in her prequel “A Fine Romance.” Along with the stories of her first transatlantic cruise to England.

I think we all can relate to different stages of our lives where the path takes a major detour and you struggle to find out what’s next.  Throughout the pages and her words, you get to know Susan, yet she inspires you to keep going and listen to what you want to do, you can make it happen.

Don’t make the same mistake I did, I didn’t have A Fine Romance yet.  I immediately ordered it as I closed the book and had to wait two days for it to arrive.  Can’t wait to open it and start the next journey.

Next up, I can’t wait to share with you a great Indie book I stumbled upon.

Until next time,

  1. I’ve slowed down on reading, but my reading list keeps growing. Like you, I love fall. I hope to do a little more reading this season.

    1. Janet, I am with you, my reading list is growing by leaps and bounds. There are not enough hours in the day. I am trying to read 3 books at once, which is really hard for me. Let me know if you read anything great!
