Pegasus, A Novel by Danielle Steel

Happy Cinco de Mayo!  Hope you all are enjoying some delicious Mexican food tonight and maybe a Margarita with a great book.

What have you been reading lately, I would love to know.

I always love an easy read for fun, a good story that takes me to another world even for a short time.  Danielle Steel books are my go to when I want to get lost in another world and Pegasus was next on the list.  When reading one of her books, I can always count on a few late nights with a cup of tea because I can’t put it down.

Pegasus was different from some of her other books as the main characters were men and I really enjoyed the story.  The book took me to a world I’m not familiar with, the circus.  The men were aristocrats, single with kids in Germany as Hitler was starting his invasion of Europe.

When a secret is revealed, one needs to quickly flee Germany with his two children along with a few horses gifted to him from his best friend.  As Nick and his boys make their way to America to join the circus, life will never be the same for him.  He has never worked, lived a privileged life and is beginning a new life.  Ringling Bros. circus is the only company that would give him a job and sponsor him to come to America.

So how does a wealthy, single man go from the schloss, (castle) to a tiny trailer working a Lipizzaner horse act in the circus?  This one you will have to discover on your own, I won’t spoil it for you.

I was fascinated by the story and the journey that all of the characters took, one of self-discovery, new lives, loves, loss and lines of friendship across generations that can’t be cut.

Yes, there were a few late nights, but it is finished and I’m on to the next book.  I am reading A Fall of Marigolds by Susan Meissner and loving it.  Can’t wait to meet you back here to talk about it.
