Life – Bee Readin'

Life

Happy New Year and Happy February! It’s been nearly a year since I have posted and I apologize, life really got in the way last year. But that doesn’t mean I wasn’t reading, and I hope you were too.

Do you have an e-reader or Kindle with tons of books on it that you just haven’t gotten too? Well, that was me. I had 17 Danielle Steel books alone and I had gotten very behind, so my goal last year was to get them read and I did it! I also managed to squeeze in a few more.

I’m not going to review each one individually, I would never make it. So I am going to leave you with this, the Danielle Steel books took me other places when life was hard and I enjoyed each and every one of them.

Here are a few more that I finished last year that I definitely think are worth reading.

  1. The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah, a story of survival in the back country of Alaska.
  2. Love, From the Hummingbird House by Donna Ball. This is a great book for Valentines Day. This is another in the series of the Ladybug Farm and Hummingbird House books by Donna Ball. It is pure fun and joy. The antics of a group of guests staying at the Hummingbird House for a Valentines event, will leave you laughing and maybe a few tears along the way.
  3. Berlin Butterfly ~ Ensnare by Leah Moyes. Loved this book and couldn’t put it down. What happens when a girl makes a choice to not escape pre-wall Germany with her boyfriend and brother to stay back to care for her ailing father. The wall is up and she is trapped. How does a young girl survive?
  4. The Next Person You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom. Nothing really needs to be said about his books, I have loved them all. This one is beautifully written as are his other books. But just when you think you understand who is in heaven, you may be surprised. His books are thought provoking and always a joy to read.
  5. Truly, Madly, Guilty by Liane Moriarty. She is another one of my favorite authors. This book leaves you hanging as you read, trying to figure out, what happened at the Barbecue and what tragedy has happened to severely impact the lives of a group of friends. Couldn’t put it down.
  6. Lastly, Love, Lucy by Lucille Ball. If you are a huge I Love Lucy fan or Lucille Ball fan, this treasure was discovered among her papers after her death and was published. It really tells a lot about her life and her start in Hollywood. Another fun read.

I hope you all have set a reading challenge for yourselves this year. If not, here are some ideas to maybe help you and make it more fun.

  1. Read a book that’s been on your To Be Read list for way to long.
  2. Read a book about food.
  3. Read a classic, maybe even one you read as a child. See if it gives you a new meaning the second time around.
  4. Read a book becoming a movie in 2019.
  5. Read a book set in your home state.

Anyway, have fun.

Until, next time, Bee Readin,
Terri

  1. Hi Terri,
So glad you posted. I checked your website last month just to be sure I hadn’t missed something, but there wasn’t anything new posted. I understand about life sometimes taking over. I’ve read several of the books you mentioned above, all good ones. I enjoy (and missed) your reviews. I hope things are going smoothly for you. Stay warm this winter. 🙂

    1. Hi Janet,

Thanks so much for checking. We had a really rough year last year, and I’m looking forward to a new and happy new year. My reading last year was purely low key, catching up on my Danielle Steel books, the was just fun reading. I am so glad you have found some of my recommendations enjoyable. Hopefully, I will do better this year. Take care and I look forward to new posts from you too.

  2. Time seems to pass too quickly these days, Terri. Living a full life and reading a stack of books is anyway much better than spending all one’s time on social media. Lovely to see which books you feasted on last year, though.

    1. Hey Jolandi,

I hope you are doing well! Thank you for your comment. Last year, I just needed fun reading without the pressure of blogging as it was a tough year. Hope to be better this year. Just got your newest blog post, can’t wait to grab a cup of tea, and read the post to see what is new on the property. Take care!
