Happy Fall! This time of year there is nothing better than curling up with a cup of tea, or coffee if you prefer, a blanket and a good book. Having just finished reading Someone Else’s Bucket List by Amy T. Matthews, I wanted to reach out to you to share this wonderful book.
I can’t stop thinking about this book. The story is of sisterhood, best friends, old dreams, loss and overcoming fear to discovery what is possible in life.
Many of us have our own bucket lists or at least dreams of things we want to do or places we want to see and experience. But, if you were asked to complete someone else’s bucket list would you or would you come up with a hundred reasons why you can’t?
Read more: Someone Else’s Bucket List by Amy T. MatthewsBree and Jodi Boyd are sisters, yet they couldn’t be more different. Bree is an Instagram influencer living a very full life. Jodi was a high school baseball star, but life hasn’t worked out as Jodi dreamed. She left college before graduating and works the counter at a car rental agency at the local airport.
When Bree is diagnosed with Leukemia, the Boyd family spirals out of control. Bree has no health insurance and the family is now responsible for her mounting medical debt.
Sadly after lengthy hospital stays and medical treatments, Bree doesn’t survive, and is gone in her mid-twenties. Before her passing, she made plans of her own which she kept secret from her family.
When a post appears on Bree’s Instagram, everyone is shocked. She speaks to the camera with a message to her sister Jodi. “My dying wish is for you to finish my bucket list. I refuse to die without knowing this list will be completed. I refuse to die without knowing my family will be okay.”
Bree had reached out to a friend she had met on one of her many adventures who works for a large corporation and they have partnered together. The company will follow Jodi as she works to complete the last 6 to do’s on Bree’s bucket list. If Jodi can keep all of Bree’s Instagram followers at the end of the list, the company will pay off all of Bree’s medical bills. If Jodi can increase the number of followers at the end, the company will not only pay off Bree’s medical debt, but will help the other families who Bree met on the cancer ward at the hospital.
This beautifully written and engaging novel follows Jodi’s journey through grief, fear, adversity and putting herself out in the world to be open to the beautiful gifts life can offer.
Someone Else’s Bucket List will stick with me for a very long time, and to be open to new experiences and journey’s in life.
Until next time, I hope you will Bee Readin’.
